Travel Expo 4 Seniors on National Senior Citizens Day
In celebration of National Senior Citizens Day, Janet Goeske Foundation has collaborated with the Mayor’s Commission on Aging to host a “Travel Expo 4 Seniors” on Friday, August 21st from 9am – 1pm at the Janet Goeske Center in Riverside.
National Senior Citizens Day was declared in 1988 by President Ronald Reagan who proclaimed, “For all they have achieved throughout life and for all they continue to accomplish, we owe older citizens our thanks and a heartfelt salute. We can best demonstrate our gratitude and esteem by making sure that our communities are good places in which to mature and grow older — places in which older people can participate to the fullest and can find the encouragement, acceptance, assistance, and services they need to continue to lead lives of independence and dignity.”
Traveling was ranked as the #1 aspiration of retired persons in a 2013 survey. In addition to helping “live life to the fullest” the physical, social, and mental stimulation experienced while traveling has been shown to improve overall health and well-being. Janet Goeske Foundation is committed to improving the quality of life of local seniors and this includes encouraging [and providing opportunities for] seniors to travel. The “Travel Expo 4 Seniors” will feature helpful presentations on how to pack like a pro, travel-friendly exercises, safety tips for trips, healthy travel snacking, and more. Several travel vendors will also be on-site to answer questions and help seniors find trips that meet their interests and needs.
Get ready to check some items off your Bucket List! Please join us at the Janet Goeske Center – 5257 Sierra St. Riverside, CA 92504 – on Friday, August 21st between 9am – 1pm to discover your next adventure!
