Our Vision

Our story

From vision to legacy

Janet Goeske, our founder and namesake, fought to improve the lives of seniors well into her eighties. Her tireless efforts led to many accolades over the years including the incorporation and establishment of the Janet Goeske Foundation (JGF). Her vision, and now legacy, was to develop a Center specific to meeting the needs of our senior community members. Through her tenacity, the Janet Goeske Center was dedicated on May 18, 1984. Over the past 40 years, the Foundation has continued to grow and serves over 10,000 monthly patron visits.

JGF’s core programming focuses on providing a whole-person centered approach to health & wellness. Physical, mental, social, and emotional well-being are essential for maintaining quality of life and we strive to meet the needs of our seniors in all of these areas. We currently offer 200+ regular weekly activities to the 50+ population including: Exercise/Fitness, Arts/Handcrafts, Dance/Music, Recreation/Entertainment, Support Groups, Lifelong Learning Classes, Health Education, Special Events, and Senior Services. With older adults identified as the fastest-growing demographic of society, it is essential that we prepare now to serve this growing population long-term. Our vision is to become the premier resource center for the 50+ community, providing essential services for every need. We plan to increase advocacy for seniors, as well as improve and expand access to programs, services, and resources. We are poised to produce a much greater impact on seniors through enhanced efforts of development and outreach outside the traditional bricks-and-mortar of “The Center”.
